The global presence of Coronavirus, and resulting disruption to the world of work, has left many of us lost in transition, lurching from how things were to how things will be - hoping that how things are won't last long. The truth is that all transitions are messy in the middle.
You may call it "transition" or "change" - whatever you call it, it can have a profound effect on you as an individual. The good new is once you understand and can notice its effects, you will be able to travel well through the journey.
"I've actually started to feel a little bit excited about the future for the first time."
In the workshop, we use William Bridges' simple way of mapping the transition journey. It begins, ironically, with Endings - the loss of something you had, the removal of ways of working with which you were familiar. Then we find ourselves in the Neutral Zone, where what we've lost has not yet been replaced, and we lack a sense of purpose and identity. The transition ends with New Beginnings, where we find a new way of working and being and have a chance to make a purposeful, fresh start.
Along the way there are many traps for the unwary, which we will help you work your way around. There will also be opportunities to discover new things about yourself. Susan Bridges says: "The essence of life takes place in the neutral zone phase of transition. It is in that interim spaciousness that all possibilities, creativity and innovative ideas can come to life and flourish." In other words, managing transition is not about "getting through it and waiting for it to be over" - it's about developing yourself as you face obstacles.
"It offered exceptionally useful tools for dealing with change and the facilitators brought experience and wisdom to this workshop."
The "It's Messy In The Middle" workshop will:
- Allow you to appreciate the stages of transition;
- Introduce you to five habits and a range of self-coaching questions which will help you operate more effectively;
- Enable you to develop a spirit of exploration and inquiry to guide you not just through your current transition but through those you have yet to experience.
The workshop requires only an open mind and a willingness to explore current and future transitions.
"If you want to understand why you've been floundering and what to do about it, this is the programme for you!"
